This book is the collection of articles on major topics of history of Kosovo and Metohija and its recent political consequences.

"This is truly the first serious attempt to cover two centuries of history of Kosovo and Metohija and to present its complex historical development in its full. In a series of articles dealing with various problems of Kosovo and Metohija throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the author definitely succeeded to make a complete picture of Kosovo and Metohija's troubled history. It seems appropriate, therefore, to name this book -The Kosovo Chronicles."
Milan St. Protic, from the Introduction.
Between Serb and Albanian: A History of Kosovo – By Miranda Vickers
ISBN: 0231113838
Publisher: Columbia University Press, April 1998
Paperback - 280 pages
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0231113838/qid=947016674/sr=1-23/102-8555701-5632014The New York Times Book Review, Anna Husarska
Vickers, who is fluent in the Albanian language, convincingly shows that there have always been problems in the relations between the Albanians from Albania and those from Kosovo.
The Nation, George Kenney
Vickers offers insight into decades of Communist agonizing over the status of Kosovo ... and why they felt, with justification, that they should revise the province's autonomy in 1989-90.
The Economist
Ms. Vickers has a healthy skepticism towards both Serbian and Albanian claims. … She also provides an important description of the debates that have rent the ethnic Albanian leadership. Should the Kosovo Albanians . . . ‘shoot their way out of Serbia’? As the recent violence showed, the ‘shooters’ are gaining ground and Vickers provides one of the first accounts of who they are.

What is the Zend Optimizer?

The Zend Optimizer is one of the most popular PHP plugins for performance-improvement, and has been available without charge, since the early days of PHP 4. It improves performance by scanning PHP's intermediate code and passing it through multiple Optimization Passes to replace inefficient code patterns with more efficient code blocks. The replaced code blocks perform exactly the same operations as the original code, only faster.

In addition to improving performance, the Zend Optimizer also enables PHP to transparently load files encoded by the Zend Guard.

The Zend Optimizer is a free product available for download from Zend Technologies. Zend Technologies also developed the PHP scripting engine, known as the Zend Engine.
